Is this blog sinful? About a year ago, Allie Beth Stuckey asked a similar question of her podcast. Her question stemmed from 1 Timothy 2: if women are not permitted to teach or exercise authority over a man, then is it sinful for her to host her podcast? This question is obviously pertinent to this blog as Bone of Bones is both written by women and also a space rich with theological information. So, how can a woman use her gifts in the context of the church? Is it ever appropriate for a woman to speak and/or write about doctrine or weighty theological issues? And is this blog crossing biblical lines? These are important questions in our egalitarian age.

For those who don’t know, my pastors and I recently started a podcast, Beggar’s Canyon, devoted to tackling all sorts of theological conundrums: the use of contraception in the church, Christ’s warning to pastors on divorce and remarriage, paedocommunion, problems with complementarianism, and now whether or not women can or should teach over men. In this episode, linked below, we address directly whether or not this blog is sinful and also if Allie is violating the command in 1 Timothy 2. Take a listen.

New episodes of Beggar’s Canyon are available on YouTube each week on Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. PST. Coming up next week, we discuss whether or not our prison system is biblically just. And be on the lookout for a future episode on creation and the nature of the days in Genesis 1 and 2. Paid Patrons have early access to future episodes and will enjoy behind the scenes content, like our review of Dune 2. Join us here: https://www.patreon.com/beggarscanyon

Anything you want us to discuss? Leave it in the comments below and I’ll pitch it to my pastors.

Until next time, salutations & selah.
